people look for a healing and comfortable zone and no doubt hill stations are
the most desirable destinations to heal your burns of stress and tensed life.
Hill station is a town at a higher elevation near a town or a valley.
Basically, this concept of hill station was founded by the European
Colonialists in Colonial Asia as they used to escape from heat of the plains to
the hills.
ABOUT DELHI CAPITAL OF INDIA
Delhi is the capital territory of India. The old name
of Delhi is Indraprastha according to Mahabharata era. Pandavas used to live
here. Delhi city is a massive metropolitan area and is situated in the North-Central
part of India. It is situated on the west bank of Yamuna River. The city Delhi
consists of two components Delhi to the North is known as old Delhi, the historic
city. It is dated back to 1600s which imposes the Red Fort a symbol of India, Jama
Masjid Mosque and Chandni Chowk a vibrant old bazar. Old Delhi
was originated by the Moghuls. Delhi to the South is known as New Delhi and was

HOW TO REACH DELHI:
By Air
Indira Gandhi International Airport is the main
airport in Delhi. It serves both international and domestic flights. It has
three arrival and departure Terminals -Terminal I, Terminal II and Terminal
III. Metro trains and taxi services are easily accessible to these Terminals in
Delhi. Connecting domestic flights and are well connected to the nearest
airports of the various hill stations’ airports. Most of the hill stations near
Delhi are not connected to the airports directly but the nearest airports
having good and easy connectivity by road plenty of taxi and cabs are available
to reach there.
By Train
Delhi is
well connected by trains also from all over India which is the cheapest and
comfortable means of transport too. There are four main railway stations in
Delhi namely:

By Bus
Delhi has one of the major and the most efficient
Transportation system in India. It mainly has 3 Bus Terminals namely
1.ISBT Kashmere Gate
2.ISBT Anand Vihar
3.ISBT Sarai Kale Khan

ISBT means
Inter State Bus Terminal from where you can get buses to various states of
India. Before proceeding to your journey by bus confirm your Bus Terminal in
Delhi to board the right bus to reach your correct destination (State).

1 . AULI
Auli is a hill station in Uttarakhand State of India.
The distance between Auli and Delhi is 504 km. Auli lies in Chamoli District of Uttarakhand.
It is located 2800metres above sea level. This hill station is in Himalayan
Mountain. It is famous for Hiking and Ski. It is surrounded by Oak and Coniferous
forests and having panoramic view of the snow bound peaks of Himalayas. Auli
ropeway is the major attraction and experience offering magnificent and
majestic Himalayan view. By air it is
312km from Delhi you can take a flight from Indira Gandhi International Airport
Delhi to the nearest airport Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun which is 305 km.
away from Auli, from where you can avail cab to reach Auli. Joshimath is the
nearest town to Auli which is only 16 km away. While going to Auli from Delhi by
road you can visit Haridwar and Rishikesh also which is 264km. and from Rishikesh,
Dehradun is just 43 km.
2 . MUSSOORIE
Mussoorie
is a famous hill station in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand. Mussoorie is
about 35 km. from Dehradun and 290 km North of New Delhi. The hill station
Mussoorie is in the foothills of the Garhwal Himalayan range. Mussoorie is
famous for its scenic beauty and now has also been developed as Centre of
education and business. The best time to visit it is during summers. The months
of April, May and June witness the peak season due to its pleasant climate.
Mussoorie is known as Queen of Hills. It is 2005m from sea level. Its nearest Airport
is Jolly Grant Airport at Dehradun. Two days minimum would be needed to visit
places like Lal Tibba, Company Garden, Kempty Falls etc.
3 . KANATAL
Kanatal hill station is 335km. from Delhi in
Uttarakhand State as well. Travel via Nh 34 or via NH 44 if travelling by road.
Kanatal is worth visiting as it is known for Apple Orchards, Himalayan views
and scenic beauty. You will be blessed with snowfall at Kanatal during December
to February months. Kanatal is located at a distance of 49 km. from the Queen
of Hills Mussoorie. Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is the nearest airport
which is 73km.By road you can go to Kanatal via Chamba-Mussoorie Road.
4 . LANSDOWNE
Lansdowne is also a hill station in the North state of
Uttarakhand. It was founded in the British Raj. By road till Kathauli it’s a
national highway, the road is good, at Kathauli leave highway and take the road
towards Bijnor via Mirapur. The Garhwali
Museum of Lansdowne tells us the history of Garhwal Rifles regiments. The place
is highly scenic and is recommended for weekend getaway from Delhi. Beside
scenic beauty, weather and surrounding is worth mentioning. In Lansdowne hill
station enjoy the enchanting views of Himalayas. The sunrise and sunset are
majestic. British architecture and churches are well preserved here. Lansdowne
is quiet, cool and scenic. Far from the crowd, it is approximately 250 km. from
Delhi. One day is sufficient to stay at Lansdowne. Auli is equally beautiful to
Lansdowne and can be covered in the same trip. Auli is 260km. via NH 7.
5 . CHAKRATA.
Delhi to Chakrata distance by road is 323 km. via
NH44.Chakrata is 98 km. from Dehradun the capital of Uttarakhand. Chakrata too
was a cantonment of the British Army. Chakrata has breath taking views and
enchanting places to visit. The nearest railway station and nearest airport to
Chakrata are in Dehradun. The best time to visit it is from September to
November. The majestic Himalayas and its peaks are visible from here and the
scenic beauty is divine. Uttarakhand is also known as Dev Bhumi, the land of
God. Chakrata is an ideal place for nature lovers and bird watchers. The hill
station is rich in variety of flora and fauna.
6 . NAINITAL
Nainital is 329 km. from Delhi by road. It is in Uttarakhand
and being hill station, it does not have a direct connectivity by air but its
nearest airport is Pantnagar which is at a distance of 65 km. from Nainital.
You can get flight from Indira Gandhi airport from Delhi to Pantnagar. If you
go by your own car, it will take 7-8 hrs. to reach there. There are many places
to visit in Nainital. Nainital is a beautiful lake city. Its beautiful lakes,
enchanting and magnificent architecture makes this town a popular tourist
destination. Nainital is extremely popular during summer season from April to
June. Nainital derives its name from its eye shaped lake, the heart of this
place. The tourist places of Nainital are Nainital Lake, Naina Peak, The Mall Road,
High Altitude Zoo, Lands’ end, Bhimtal Lake, Kilbury Bird Sanctuary and many
more.
7 . KAUSANI
Kausani is a hill station in the state of Uttarakhand,
India. It is famous for its natural beauty and panoramic views of Himalayan
peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul and Panchchuli peaks. Kausani is an ideal place
for those who want to relax in the lap of nature for peace after a hectic
schedule of city life. Kausani is a picturesque hill station like any other. It
is 434 km. from Delhi and by road you can go via NH 34 and Nainital Road. About
170 km. is its nearest airport at Pantnagar. Nearest railway station of Kausani
is Kathgodam which is 140 km. away. Kathgodam railway is well connected with
major cities of India like Delhi, Kolkata and Lucknow. Buses and taxi are
easily available from airport and railway station. The peak season last from
late March to end June as the climate is very pleasant but it tends to get
crowded during this time. Winter season is also good to visit Kausani.
8 . LANDOUR
Landour is a safe and less crowded hill station of
Uttarakhand than Mussoorie. Landour was built by the British Indian Army therefore
has a more British touch. The nearest airport to Landour is Dehradun Airport,
about 39km. away. Other nearby airport included Chandigarh which is 126 km.
from here. The best thing to do here is to walk through its natural
surroundings and you will not get tired due to its pleasant weather and views
of the dazzling Himalayas views. Landour is a small cantonment town and is 35
km. from the city of Dehradun and the capital of Indian state Uttarakhand.
Lansdowne is about 90 km. from Landour.
