Kurukshetra is a city in Haryana State of North India. It is known as the origin city of the Hindu Epic poem The Mahabharata. This city is in Haryana State which was founded on 1st November, 1966.The nearest Airports of this city are at Chandigarh and Delhi. Taxi services are available from Airports . From Chandigarh it is 93 km. and from Delhi it is 160 km. Kurukshetra is located on main Delhi and Ambala Railway line and is well connected by all important Towns and Cities of India. Haryana Roadways Buses and other neighboring state buses connect Kurukshetra to other cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, Ambala and Karnal.                        

It is believed that this is the place where Lord Krishna recited Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna. In Kurukshetra every year Gita Jayanti  is celebrated in the months of November and December to commemorate this event. Sadhus and pilgrims from all over the country visit this holy place during November and December. Many foreigners also visit  Kurukshetra on this occasion.

1.BRAHMA SAROVER TEMPLE


Brahma Sarover Temple is a beautiful temple positioned in the middle of water of  Brahma Sarover. A bridge links the temple to the bank. According to Mythology Lord Brahma used to worship Lord Shiva in this temple but during the war of Mahabharata it was destroyed by the war in the day and  was  reconstructed  during the night. It is a beautiful sight to heal your spirit and soul with peace and  spirituality .Many pilgrims ,people and foreigners visit this enchanting sight and walk around the temple.

 2.JYOTISAR


Jyotisar is a pilgrimage site in Kurukshetra and visited by many tourists and religious people. Lord Krishna delivered the sermon of Bhagavad Gita at this place under a holy Banyan tree. Its marble chariot reminds us of the glorious past. We can see Lord Krishna sermonizing Arjuna. Bhagavad Gita is based on the doctrine of Karma, the Action and Dharma ,the Religion .It is the place where Lord Krishna gave Updesh to Arjuna to fight with his relatives and family when he was reluctant to raise weapons against them.

3.BHISHMA KUND


Bhishma  Kund is the another worth visiting  site in Kurukshetra .Bhishma  Pitamaha was laid down in the battle on a bed of arrows by Arjun to witness the battle during his approaching death. This is the place where Arjun shot his arrow into the ground and a spring of water appeared to quench the thirst of dying Bhishma Pitamaha .It is a beautiful site to visit and is beautifully maintained.

4.KRISHNA MUSEUM

One of the most fascinating and worth visiting places of Kurukshetra is Krishna Museum .It is set up by Haryana Tourism. This Museum presents the glimpses of Multifaceted personality of Lord Krishna. This Museum has six galleries and display vivid paintings ,sculptures ,clay pottery and other artifacts.

5.SANNIHIT SAROVAR   


Sannihit Sarovar is located at a distance of 3 km. on Pehwa Road .It is believed to be the permanent abode of  Lord Vishnu. During Solar eclipse pilgrims gather here to take bath in this tank .Religious Gurus and Purohits tell the visitors about their ancestors as per their records. Pilgrims come here from all parts of the country. Even Sikh Gurus also visit this place quite often. On Amavasya night ,the night of complete darkness bathing here bestows blessings. It is believed that this Sarover offers peace to the unhappy soul. 

6.SHEIKH CHEHLI KA MAKBARA(SHEIKH CHEHLI'S TOMB)


It is another attraction of Kurukshetra. A complex of structures including two Tombs , a Madrasa, Mughal Gardens and Archaeological Museum run by Archaeological Survey of India. Archaeological Museum consists of Archaeological finds like swords, seals, ornaments ,coins from Kushna ,Gupta period from 1st -3rd century and 4th -6th century and post Gupta period Vardhana dynasty from 6th -7th century.

7.BHADRAKALI TEMPLE


Bhadrakali Temple is a famous temple here . Bhadrakali is a Hindu Goddess and is a fierce form of Goddess Durga .She is also known by various names like Shakti, Durga, Devi, Mahamaya, Bhadrakali. Bhadraali is the popular form of the great Goddess. It is believed that before marching out for battle Lord Krishna and Pandvas offered worship here for their victory in the battle of Mahabharta. Many other stories are also associated with this temple.

8.KURUKSHETRA PANORAMA AND SCIENCE CENTRE


Kurukshetra Panorama and Science Centre is a unique combination of Science and Religion .A unique life like Panorama of the Epic Battle of Mahabharata is showcased here with a  Scientific explanation. The episode of war can be visualized  here .It also has an interesting exhibition called INDIA : A HERITAGE IN SCIENCE ,TECHNOLOGY AND CULTURE  .It consists of ancient Indian concept of properties  of matter, structure of atom, geometry, arithmetical rules, medicine, surgery and astronomy. 9.KALPANA CHAWLA PLANETARIUM 


Kalpana Chawla Memorial Planetarium is one of the most popular attraction in Kurukshetra , Pehowa Road. In the memory of India's first woman astronaut Dr. Kalpana Chawla this Planetarium has been setup.It is built up at the cost of 6.50 crores and covers the area of 5 acres of land .It has emerged as one of the most popular visiting spot of Kurukshetra.

10.DHAROHAR MUSEUM 


Dharohar Museum showcases the cultural heritage of Haryana in a very unique way .It has an open air theatre for cultural performances also.
