India has a vast coastline of approximately 7,000km. along the Arabian sea in the West. The Western Coastal Plain lies between Western Ghats and the Arabian sea Ghats. This region consists of three sections:

1.The Northern part of the Coast is called Konkan (Mumbai and Goa)                                                 

2.The central stretch is called the Kanara or the Karavali/ Aravali (Karnataka)                                 

3.The southern stretch is referred as the Malabar coast Kerala.                                                            

The biological diversity found in the Western Ghats are unparallel in the world and provides the   region a dazzling array of birds, orchids and butterflies.

 HOW TO REACH COORG:



BY AIR

The nearest Domestic Airport is the Mangalore International Airport about 160 km. away from Coorg and the nearest Kempegowda International Airport is in Bangalore approximately 265 km. from Coorg.


                                                                                                                                          

BY TRAIN

The two nearest railway stations to Coorg are Mysore Junction and Mangalore Central Railway Station which are at a distance of 95 and 134 km. respectively. While travelling from Bangalore to Coorg by train, it is best to take a train to Mysore Junction and then take a bus or cab from Mysore to reach Coorg.


BY ROAD

The roads to Coorg are well maintained, if travelling from Bangalore by car or bike. Traveling by car or bike will be a pleasant experience since you will be able to enjoy the scenic beauty at your will by stopping on the way.



 BEST TIME TO VISIT COORG:

September to June is the best time to visit Coorg. For trekking October to March is the best time to visit it. People from across the world throng its slopes throughout the year.
